Reminders for the coming weeks

There are about two month left of school, which is jam packed with activities.
Here is an overview:

  1. Our class is signed up for a baby themed basket for the Spring Carnival’s silent auction.  Mrs. Loyd, our homeroom parent will be putting together the basket for us. Look out for a signupgenius this week for items that we'd need. I will need to have all items, gift cards, and/or money in by April 13th.
  2. Friday, March 30th is a holiday for students and staff.
  3. Education Go Get It Week will be April 2nd--6th.   Students can wear their favorite college attire or dress in the theme of the day (to be announced).
  4. Friday April 6th is our field trip to the Play for All Abilities Park.  Students should dress appropriate for the weather and wear closed toe shoes.  Don’t forget to pack a disposable lunch. Please not lunch boxes or Tupperware.
  5. April 6th last day to register for Kids Kicking Out Hunger Kickball tournament
  6. We will celebrate Kindness week April 16--20th.  During this week, students will focus on acts of kindness.  Ask your child to tell you about acts of kindness they performed and received.
  7. The PTA Spring Carnival is on Friday, April 20th from 5:30--9:00 with the silent auction starting at 4:00 and concluding at 8:00 in the cafeteria. In addition to our coffee themed basket, our class will be donating an art piece.  It is going to be a beautiful Pinterest inspired creation (I hope)!
  8. Friday April 27th is Science Day at Forest Creek.  Students will have a whole day of fun science activities around the school.
  9. Students will be researching a country of origin in class.  For homework, students will be asked some general heritage and family tradition questions.  Please bring a poster board by Friday May 4th.
  10. Field Day is May 4th.  K--2nd will be 8:30--10:30 and 3rd--5th will be 12:30--2:40. Students should dress appropriately for the day.
  11. May 6th – 3rd annual Kids Kicking Out Hunger Kickball tournament at Gattis School Elementary
  12. Muffins with Moms will be May 11th at 7:20 in the cafeteria.  Watch the Coyote Call closer to this date for a link to RSVP.  This helps us make sure we have enough muffins to go around.  This is a fun, relaxing time for moms and students to sit and eat a muffin before school.
  13. Monday May 14th and Tuesday May 15th – 3rd Grade Math and Reading STAAR tests. No visitors on campus.
  14. Wednesday May 16th – STAAR test for 5th grade – no visitors on campus.
  15. Week of May 21st – Students will be sharing their heritage project in class.  Students are asked to bring a food, game, or artifact relating to their research in addition to sharing their poster (more information to come).
  16. Week of May 21st – Due to the late date for STAAR and the window for reading assessments, student led group conferences will be held this week.  You may request an individual conference, or just that conference materials be sent home. More information to come.
  17. Monday May 28th is a school holiday
  18. Tuesday, May 29th is also the last day of school for all students.  This is the makeup day for an earlier weather closure. We will be celebrating our heritage the previous week.  Today, Mrs. Couture will bring a treat for the class and we will celebrate our year. Students may bring a board game to share.
